Currently DCQG members work on a number of projects that help our community. One of our favorite projects is creating quilts for babies that find themselves in the NICU of Rockford Hospital. (We give to the hospitals in Rockford because that is where our babies usually end up when they need special care.)
Each and every child that finds themselves in this unit receives a handmade quilt from our guild that is used to keep them warm and feeling secure while they grow strong enough to go home and enjoy life with their families. We have supplied hundreds of these quilts over the years for the littlest and most helpless of our community.
If you would like to join us bring joy and comfort to these little onesclick hereto download a pattern for a quick and easy quilt. The quilts should be 47" X 54" to fit nicely over the incubator. We also ask that your quilt contains our label, which should be affixed to the back, so the family can identify who provided their child with a quilt of comfort . We also collect items of need , year round, for a women's shelter called Safe Passage. It is a place where women and their children , in crisis, can be safe and have access to to resources that help them begin their new lives.
